welcome back to the blog. I myself have been guilty of not blogging for a month or two. sometimes it gets to be too much of a hassle. i like that it allows me to easily track what i am doing. good luck.

Mill Creek Trail to the Mustang Ranch Trail and back two times. Fun times! Really slow for me but I got through it. I think it's going to be a good jump start for my Squaw Peak Training as Kamm said the other day "it's crunch time" only 104 days left.  The first loop my ankle was bugging again a little but didn't notice it on the 2nd loop.

Two 11 mile loops from D. Holt's house. James, Nate, Dave and I.

Pretty happy about the climbing gain! I think I'm going to try to do this run once a week and increase the miles on it as a get in better shape.

Evening group run from the store 8.25 miles - Green Springs loop.

My legs are still pretty thrashed from mondays workout. However once I got warmed up everything ran pretty smoothly. However Willbull dropped the pace to 6:00 - 5:50 coming down Green Springs and I started feeling some Calf Funk so I backed it back down the last mile or so.

Utah Hill run with Dave.  14 mile loop x2 with some miles added at the end. Over all I felt much better than I did during my last 26 miler. I think it was mostly due to my hydration being a little more consistant. The last two miles my pace dropped a little too much. I also need work on my hills.

Great 30 mile run this morning with Clyde. Flat 10 miles out and back X3. 4 hours total running. Felt really good thanks to Wintercrest and Accelerade. Left ham started to get a little tight and the end - no biggie.

Worked in the store until 5 pm and went on the club run with the guys. 8 miles total. Crazy weather for the 1st 4miles then it calmed down.  Did really well until mile 6 and the right hip flexor started spazzing out a little (left ham felt great) so I just shut it down to 10 min miles for the last 2. I didn't feel any need to push it.

Pretty happy about the day - Biggest mileage day in my life!

It's crazy to think this race has come and gone. One of the best experiences I've had in a long time. Overall I'm really happy with how I did. My only big mistake was going out at 6:30 pace with the leaders and pushing it too hard up the first hill.

When I have more time I'll go over the race some more. Good times!

Got back out in the evening and did another 4 - almost got attacked by a stupid dog. Just about threw my hip out trying to kick it as it came at me. I think I'm going to run by that same house tonight with my putter - hopefully it comes out again :-o . . did I just say that out-loud.

Group run today. Everyone met up at the old store.  We had about 20+ people this morning. Some ran 13 and we ran almost 20 (18.8) . For our 20 we started in Veyo, ran down Snow Canyon to SC PRKWAY, then back to the store.

My legs are feeling pretty good. Hip Flexors and lower back was a little tight coming down SC - I think a little more stretching will take care of it.

Pretty good run - However, Mike W. was having some balance issues he needs to figure out.  It's amazing how well he's been able to run with so many "issues".

Evening run. Went back out and did a slow stretch-out run.  Pretty happy with myself for getting back out to reach my goal for the week.

Was really hoping to run faster than I did in 07 but that obviously didn't happen. I ended up 3 min slower. I think its just due to running too slow on training run, no speed work, and the SQ 50 last month. I think by just staying consistent and adding some speed work I'll be able to make some good gains.

Went out a little late this morning and did a small speed workout.  I knew it wasn't going to be too exciting just coming off of the Half on Sat. and it being 98 degrees - so I didn't expect much.  Decided to do 3 miles at threshold pace.

1st mile - 5:36, I felt great the first half then my already tight legs started going limp.

2nd mile - 5:52, not too good.

1st 1/2 mile - 2:49, decided to do a half

2nd 1/2 mile - 2:47

Well over I'm just happy I got out and pushed myself a little.

Great run with Dave. He wrote a nice description of the run - Check It Out.

The Rattle Snake run-in was quite nerve racking - Dave had to throw everything he could find at the snake.  The best hit was the 2" thick stick in the head - which still didn't move the snake.  We ended up going  around the snake to the right and Dave squirted water on it until it moved off the trail.

For the week I was a little low on the miles - but I plan on hitting it hard next week.

Clyde, that is exactly what I thought you would say!

Good times - making memories.

Steven, I did further research and found out that we were on the right trail to go up the mountain - it just comes down into the brush for awhile (but obviously needs to be maintained) then heads up the mountain not too far from where we turned.

Hey Steve - we met some time ago in your store...I bought a Saucony Type A and a Mizuno Wave Precision 8...not that I expect you'd remember. I saw you had just recently posted which is why I thought of you - do you have any ideas on how someone could still get into the SG Marathon? (From SLC) I did get in this year, but I'm doing some leg work for a friend and I thought I'd at least see if you, being down there, had any ideas.

Thanks (BTW good work @ Squaw)

Hey Camdog,

I think that you might be able to send a note into the SGM and see if you can get on some type of waiting list. They always have people that drop out the middle of August. - It's always worth a try.

mile 4 - 5:46

I'm glad I've started doing these repeats. My body has "forgoten" how to be pushed. HR wasn't really too high on each of the intervals I just had a hard time getting going. Hips were a little off and I wasn't very fluid during each of the intervals. (w/ shirt on :03 slower p/mile)

Met up with Mr. K. Davis at the house and did a hybrid trail/road run. We had no idea where we were going - we just went. Good times. We started at 6:30 so it was still a little warm out but not too bad. The temp has been a little lower here in St. George. Kamm thought we were going to be attacked by a porcupine, so I played the brave one. Felt pretty tired at the end - over all it was a good run.

Great 20 mile run with the group this morning. Met-up the Southern Utah Tri Club as well and everyone drove up the SGM Course together.

We kept the first 12 nice and easy - just chatting and having a good time. Mr Logan showed up - It's good to have him back running with us.

After the first twelve we dropped the pace for the last 8 miles (6:05 average).  Here are my splits:

mile 1 - 5:58

mile 2 - 6:01

mile 3 - 6:08

mile 4 - 6:26 (winchester hill / grabbed water)

mile 5 - 5:55

mile 6 - 5:52

mile 7 - 6:10

mile 8 - 6:07

I was more happy with how I felt than by time. Hips are still a little off and I'm still getting used to the faster leg turn over. Kendra did her first 20 miler today as well and rocked it!
