Met with the guys out at the race start to run the course for a warm-up at about 7am. Nice warm-up.

8am - The race went well. Not a quick 10k however.  I was hoping to keep it under 6 min pace - but considering the course, and the 6.5 mile warm-up I'm happy with the way I felt.

I was mostly happy with the way I felt after the race during our 6.5 mile cool-down no tightness, or fatigue except for being thirsty and carrying my cup for 3 miles before finding some water.

Overall, I think I'm making some improvements.

Good Race today Steve. It was fun to watch you guys, just wish I would have been feeling a little better and could have raced with you guys. Maybe in a few weeks I'll be able to do Hurricane Half.

From Tom on Apr 12, 2008 at 21:47:21

Good job on the race Steve. You guys are all running so strong.

From Runnman on Apr 12, 2008 at 22:09:45

Steve, I ran over to the store to see you this evening, not realizing that you closed at 4:00. Anyway, good run today. I am envious of you guys running together after the race. I'm not sure when I'll get to run with you again. I am putting in consistant weekly miles, so I will hopefully be ready when we do get together again. By the way, I printed new cards for some of the running club guys. The first cards out were probably wrong due to some other guys who signed up for the 10 and ran the 5. I fixed that in the results, but not in time for your first cards.

Great race. It was fun to see you come in even before a lot of the 5K people.

BTW, I sent one of my guys over to your store the other day for some shoes and he loves them! He even ran the 5K in them today. THANK YOU so much for giving him a good experience. I really like that I can feel comfortable sending my clients to you and knowing they will get just what they need.

Nice Job Steve!

Steve, Thanks again for the T5s they were an awesome shoe. I was surprised how well could run in the dirt and ruts with them. A stable racing flat considering the narrow last.

It looks like you guys had fun yesterday even with the hills breaking up your pacing. Great race even so. You should come down in July and run the Des News 10k. You will definitely get sub six, and some change!

From Christi on Apr 13, 2008 at 11:43:48

Great job to you too! Esp. coming off the injury! You looked great coming across the finish. I just stayed long enough to see bloggies finish, then my family was ready to GO! Esp. my non-running hubby who'd been up since 6 to get kids to the 1k.. hee hee..(that's why you didn't see me hanging around after...)

From MarcieJ on Apr 13, 2008 at 12:38:43

Sounds like a pretty tough course. Glad you are doing well and felt good after the race, thats always important!I need to come with you guys on a saturday and start getting some faster miles in again. Are you all planning on doing the Hurricane 1/2?

From Superfly on Apr 13, 2008 at 14:20:26

Good race and week. Keep moving in the right direction with your training and you'll be doing sub 6 min pace in Oct at the marathon.
